~ The Asia-Pacific Legal 500 2008-09

Our clients are our priority. When we represent them, we make sure their concerns are heard and goals are met. We pride ourselves on delivering effective solutions. We have the resources, commitment and certainly the capability to provide our clients with proper attention pertaining to legal issues and rights.

Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill (LHAG) advised Yamato Asia Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo-listed courier and logistics company Yamato Holdings Co Ltd, on the acquisition of a 10% stake in GD Express Carrier Bhd (GDex) via private placement. The deal, with a transaction value of RM217.31 million, was announced on 21 January 2016.

GDex is currently ranked second in the Malaysian parcel delivery market with a 20% share. With the partnership, it is hoped that both parties will be able to leverage on each other’s strengths, and together expand to become the leading delivery company in Malaysia and ASEAN.

The LHAG team (led by partner and head of the Foreign Investment Practice Group, Ooi Bee Hong) and Interlaw member Momo-o, Matsuo & Namba in Tokyo jointly acted for the acquirer in this transaction.
