Datuk D. P. Naban is a Senior Partner of Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill and heads the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group as well as Taxation & Private Client Practice Group. He was called to the English Bar in 1980 and admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1981. Datuk Naban has been active in civil and commercial litigation and corporate advisory practice for nearly 30 years.

As a tax practitioner, he has appeared before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax, High Court and Court of Appeal for various tax matters. Besides tax litigation, Datuk Naban advises businesses on various tax matters including indirect tax, stamp duty, tax advisory and planning, tax audit and investigation and transfer pricing. He has authored numerous tax related articles and is a frequent speaker at tax conferences.

Datuk Naban’s role as a tax practitioner is complemented by his active involvement in corporate work. As a member of the firm’s Corporate Department, he advises clients on an extensive range of corporate and commercial transactions ranging from mergers and acquisitions, project financing and issuance of financial instruments, government linked companies and privatisation, and real property; where he brings with him his immense experience as a seasoned litigator.

Datuk Naban also advises private clients on a broad range of issues covering family matters, estates and private property, the establishment of trusts, tax planning, and management of private companies, and helping clients to preserve their wealth. Drawing on the resources and talents available from other practice groups within the firm, he focuses on developing solutions for private clients in tax, corporate and litigation matters.
