Defamation Suit Against Ex-Deputy PM Dismissed
Last June, an ex-branch chief of a political party, PPBM, brought a defamation suit against the party president, alleging that the latter’s statements had described him as a dishonest person and that he could not be trusted. The party president refused to apologise, and subsequently filed an application to strike out the suit.
On Friday, 19 January, Rosli Dahlan, a partner and head of the Corporate and Commercial Disputes Practice at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, succeeded in striking out the suit against his client, the party president who was formerly the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
