National Seminar on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership 2018 (CPTPP)
Dato’ Nitin Nadkarni, a partner with the Energy, Infrastructure & Projects, and International Arbitration Practice at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, will be speaking at this one-day seminar on 16 April 2018, organised by Aram Global Sdn Bhd.
A new trade pact undoubtedly requires reforms and revisions to existing legislation. In the wake of implementation, Malaysia will enact new laws to comply with the requirements of the CPTPP.
Dato’ Nitin will examine the relevant regulatory and compliance impact of implementing the CPTPP, and the key legal benefits and risks which Malaysian companies can face under the controversial Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) mechanism. He will also explain the impact of Malaysia’s ratification of the CPTPP, how this will chart Malaysia’s path forward, and the legal ramifications if the country withdraws from the CPTPP.
Dato’ Nitin is empanelled with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) as an arbitrator and sits as the co-chairman of the Bar Council Arbitration and Construction Sub-committee.
