LHAG Consultant and Partner in Sabah on 7 October
Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill and the Sabah Law Society are jointly organising a talk on Monday, 7 October, in Sabah, where consultant Dato’ Seri Mohd Hishamudin Yunus and partner Darshendev Singh will each share their views with respect to counsel appearing before the court, as seen from the perspectives of a presiding judge and a practising lawyer.
Titled “Perspectives of a Judge and Counsel”, the presentation will also discuss the illustrious career of retired Court of Appeal judge Dato’ Seri Hishamudin, and some of his landmark judgments published last year in Hishamudin Yunus: Celebrating Judicial Independence (a review of which may be found here). Dato’ Seri Hishamudin, who is currently the chairman of both the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) and the Independent Committee on the Management of Foreign Workers, is also a member of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) and the Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM).
Darshendev Singh primarily practises in the area of commercial dispute resolution with a focus on disputes relating to construction, engineering, oil and gas, and infrastructure projects. Besides being a registered arbitrator, Darshendev also regularly sits as an adjudicator in disputes brought under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 and represents clients in international and domestic arbitration, litigation, mediation and adjudication.
Darshendev, who has been described by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2019 as a lawyer who “always delivers in a timely fashion”, is also a frequent speaker on the international circuit on issues related to his areas of practice and contributes to global publications on the arbitration and construction law landscape. Darshendev is also a contributing author to Hishamudin Yunus: Celebrating Judicial Independence.
